Powersports oil filters help to remove contaminants from your ATVs and motorbikes that can accumulate over time as the oil keeps the engine clean.
How the oil filter works
There is a metal can with a sealing gasket outside of the filter that holds it tightly against the engine’s mating surface. The can’s base plate holds the gasket and pierces around the area inside the gasket. Make a central hole that will allow mixing with the oil filter assembly on the engine block. There is a filter material inside the can, which is often made from synthetic fiber.
The engine’s oil enters from the holes in the perimeter of the base plate and it is the pump then that moves the oil directly to the filter. It pushes away the impure oil through the filter media and backs through the central hole from where it re-enters the engine.
Picking the right oil filter
Picking the right oil filter for your motorbike is of utmost importance. Though all the oil filters might look similar, it is the difference in the gasket size and threads that determine if the particular filter will work right for your vehicle. The best way to find out the right one is by referencing parts catalog or going through your owners’ manual.
Using the wrong Powersports oil filter can cause oil leakage out of the engine, or an ill-fitting filter might just fall off. Either of these scenarios can lead to serious engine damage.
In a nutshell, before buying your Pioneer Powersports, research the features of the oil filter and find out if it suits your ATV. Buy the one that best fits your needs.
